Daredevil: Live Action Suits Throughout The Years

There is EVIL out there. Time to get some work done.Check out Daredevil’s live action Suits Evolution

If you see those horns in shadows lurking, then you know, you are in big trouble and will be hospitalized.

Took a long time to recognise Daredevil as a character rather than identifying as poor Spider-Man. Thanks to Frank Miller, DD found his infrastructure and become the iconic character as we know it.

So today, I am going to cover each suit’s feature and design from Ben Affleck to Charlie Cox. So let us begin

Ben Affleck as Daredevil

This costume is much more leather looking like. Something a biker wears or it sometimes look like a spandex. It also has holster for his Billy Clubs which is disguised as cane which he(Matt Murdock) uses for walking. The suit is very much functional and realistic at times of 2000-2005s. This suit is more like crimson platish than red. The insignia of DD is placed at right side of chest, kind of very subtle.

This mask has red lense, whenever the lighting is right, you can see the POV of blind man, especially if lighting set in right situation. Although meant for gymnastic purpose, but it does look like it can be easily fit into the person who has more than 5 feet.

There are some of the concept arts for the suit which were made by Manser. I feel these are the better versions than final product which got. They feel more darker for the movie.

Home Made Suit

This suit is just seen at one scene on the episode 10 AKA Nelson V Murdock of Season 1. This suit is just plain Blue Sweatshirt and looks somewhat like Pyjamas. Eyes are covered in blindfold style. Hands are covered with hand wraps which are mainly used for boxing. This suit is somewhat similar to Battle Damaged Variant excpet it is not fully Black Ninja Suit.

Black Ninja Suit

This suit is heavily inspired by classic design by Frank Miller in early days of Daredevil comics “The Man Without Fear” and in the same case of MCU/Netflix TV show where he started before and after the events of “The Avengers: Battle For New York”.

This suit has nothing much more to offer as he said in the show he ordered from online along with black pants and mask. Mask is pretty much similar to the comics. He got batons from his mentor Stick. It is perfect for practical sports and military wear. The only difference are shoes, they are black in live action just like every other MCU heroes get except Captain America. In comics, they are white sports shoes. In some cases, Muay Thai ropes has been used in Season 1 Episode 2 and then used in the last episodes of Season 3.(See the Image Below)

Devil Of Hell’s Kitchen Suit 1

This Suit has been created by Melvin Potter so that he could take less damage from his enemies. The Red Part if you see, it can deflect a knife depending on the angle and black part would give him from most protection from punches, kicks and other alternatives. Those Black Pattern you can see all over his costume and even his back, has some black patterns(See The Video Below).

It is somewhat similar to Secret War Costume but little tactical and more of an armor based. If you see his right leg, it has pockets where he keeps his batons but unlike comics it does not have rope like feature, but it can combine into one club.Yes it has red eye suit in the helmet but it just looks like for the showcase and nothing else. But this suit wouldn’t last until starting few episodes where Punisher has been guest starred and he cracked his helmet pretty hard.

Devil of Hell’s Kitchen Suit 2 in Season 2,Defenders and Season 3

This Suit is almost perfect. Although the same suit, but helmet has been changed and also improved on those red eyes. Now he looks like “Devil Of Hell’s Kitchen”. Even now the suit has complete protection from almost everything. Light material but durable.

Potter also incorporated a new carbon nanotube-based alloy which he said and I quote “near indestructible” into a new helmet that included red lenses in the eye holes. He also added advanced alloy gauntlets to the suit’s gloves as a bonus. Now instead of Batons, he got billy clubs which he can swing around almost like Spider-Man.

Honorable Mention
But this suit now has been used by Ben Poindexter AKA Dex or commonly known as Bullseye just like in the comics where he donned the costumes of Daredevil and Hawkeye.

Unused Concepts for MCU Suit.
If Daredevil was ever into MCU movie, pretty sure these costumes would work very well. One of the costumes had DD insignia. Looks very awesome.Made by Josh Nizzi.

Punisher: Live Action Suits Throughout The Years

Since the Punisher’s first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 from 1974, Francis Castiligone AKA Frank Castle is pretty much the same. He’s as tough as we speak, vigilante waging a one-man war on crime in order to get revenge for the murder of his family. Let us see the list of Live Action suits.

Since the Punisher’s first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 from 1974, Francis Castiglione AKA Frank Castle is pretty much the same. He’s as tough as we speak, vigilante waging a one-man war on crime in order to get revenge for the murder of his family. Sometimes I just believe, he takes his family name to murder people who aren’t capable of change. He rose in popularity from the mid-80s to the mid-90s. For some people, it is very good.

But he has only message to bad guys out there

Those who do evil to others, the killers, rapists, psychos, sadists..you will come to know him well.Frank Castle is dead, call him The Punisher.

Frank Castle is an honest ex-Marine who has lot of respect for Captain America and James Rhodes AKA War Machine.

Fun Fact: Now Punisher is a War Machine since Rhodey AKA James Rhodes died at the hands of Thanos thanks to Captain Marvel. But today we are here to celebrate Frank Castle’s Live Appearance in Movies & TV Shows.

Let us see the list of Live Action suits.

Thomas Jane from Punisher (2004)

This Punisher is almost accurate to comic series and people loved it. It could have improved on action series. Origins was bloody violent but after that violence was little let down. It is as memorable as Tobey Maguire playing Spider-Man.It is the people’s second choice to play as Punisher.

Film costume borrows from Garth Ennis run on Punisher comics. Instead of sweat shirt, they gone with T-Shirt and Leather Jacket. The Leather Jacket is somewhat similar to what Keanu Reeves wore on The Matrix. He didn’t even used much weapons except Shotgun,Arrows,Mine Bombs.

He only wear this during Climax Scene. After that POOF.

warzone
Ray Stevenson in Punisher War Zone (2008)

A slight better looking Punisher than Thomas Jane. The costume more looks like body armor. It is something a war of soldier wears. Almost a realistic body armor, if I say so for myself. Not only do that, he has the experience of Marines. That guy can kill anyone in seconds. He was at war with crimes not with himself.

It has neck guard as well and he carries way more weapons like every kinds of pistols, even with silencers , revolvers, rifles ,pocket knifes, flares, grenade launchers. This guy had it all. Finally a good Punisher suit but too bad film was forgotten as it was solely focused on violence and crude language.

Jon Bernthal as MCU’s Punisher in Daredevil Season 2 (2016-Present)

After two bad attempts at film, Netflix and MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe) swooped in and saved the day with this new suit. Granted that he did not get until Season 2 of Final Episode in Daredevil end.He was a killer in this both literally and figuratively. In this suit, he is somewhat wearing the armor once he killed Schoonover and got access to weapons closet, he designed and painted iconic white skull on black armor except he has big black coat in it, but rest of it is same.

Jon Bernthal as MCU’s Punisher in Punisher (2017-Present)

This suit is very similar to it just removed the black coat but with more ammo pouches and also keeping small weaponrys for stealth attempt. He sports the signature death’s head logo much like modern comics which is like basically a source of this skull’s roots and has loads of ammo pouches. Even though he is short but very much bulky.Just like previous film Punisher War Zone, he is wearing a Kevlar armor to protect himself from bullets as his previous experience. It is very much realistic depiction of his suits from comics. This suit is perfect amount of practicals with theatrics. In Season 2, we hope we get to see this suit more as they promised they would show he is adopting the mantle of Punisher, hope they keep up the promise. Even if it means cancellation of the series just like other MCU Netflix TV Shows.

But here are some unused costumes which were made but never implemented.
